DC Activities Boom in June

Nothing says summer like barbecue. Head to Pennsylvania Avenue on June 27th and 28th to witness Safeway’s National Capital Barbecue Battle. With food, music, and a heated competition, it’s no wonder this has been touted as a festival worth traveling to. Tickets are on sale now for $12.

Smithsonian Folklife Festival: June 24-28
Hosted on the National Mall, this Festival features performing and visual arts, crafts, and hoards of information about “many exemplary practitioners of diverse, authentic, living traditions –both old and new,” according to the festival’s website. Check out this free and educational cultural event.

Source Festival: June 5-28
The Source Festival provides a platform for established and blossoming performance artists to showcase their talent. Featuring 3 full length plays, 18 five minute plays, and 3 “Blind Dates” –collaborations between artists from different disciplines, The Source Festival highlights talent chosen from hundreds of submissions. DC Jazz Festival: June 10-16
