What’s going in Adam’s Morgan these days? The construction of The Morgan, CCRE’s new 40-unit condominium complex is underway at 2237 Champlain Street NW, and is set to be completed this winter. Situated in the heart of “one of DC’s most spirited neighborhoods,” according to Washington.org’s Guide to Adams Morgan, The Morgan’s location leaves little to be desired.
Adams Morgan is an area of DC known for its burgeoning night-life scene and is a hotspot particularly for young professionals. Here are a few of our favorite bars near The Morgan.
• Madam’s Organ ~ 2461 18th Street NW; 0.2 miles from The Morgan
A clever spoonerism, Madam’s Organ is home to live music every day of the week. This bar is also known for being 4 stories, complete with 5 separate bars. They have happy hour Friday through Wednesday from 5pm-8pm with specials such as half price beer and wine. Don’t fret, it is still worth heading to Madam’s Organ on Thursdays. Instead of hosting their traditional happy hour they advertise $1 off all drinks benefiting local non-profits –a new one each Thursday. Start your weekend early and help out your community while having fun. Access to this nightlife will be yours if you buy at The Morgan!
• Dan’s Café ~ 2315 18th St NW; 0.1 miles away from The Morgan
For a true dive bar experience a block away from The Morgan, Dan’s is the place to go. Known for its strong, but inexpensive drinks, Dan’s Café is a place where bar-goers mix their own drinks with squeeze bottles of mixers and alcohol. This beyond dingy bar is cash only, and has genuine character. Adams Morgan has excellent diversity when it comes to bars and restaurants; Dan’s Café is the perfect example right on The Morgan’s stomping ground.
• Bourbon ~ 2321 18th Street NW; 0.1 miles away from The Morgan
Just steps from The Morgan’s location, Bourbon, “your neighborhood dining saloon” is less divey than Dan’s. They serve brunch all day Sunday, and have a classic, American dinner menu featuring burgers, salads, and steaks. Enough about the food, bourbon is what they are known for. Bourbon’s massive selection of, well, bourbon, will not disappoint. Happy hour includes $4 bourbon of the night, $5 small plates, and $2 off draft beer. If you’re feeling ambitious leave your condo at The Morgan and visit all 3 this winter!
